Failure to comply with the fee payment requirements under the ADGM Data Protection Regulations 2021 may result in the issuance of a Fixed Monetary Penalty of USD 450. This penalty is applied automatically if the statutory renewal fee is not paid within the one-month grace period following the anniversary of incorporation, as stipulated under Section 24(2) of the DPR 2021. Continued non-payment may lead to further enforcement actions, including recovery of outstanding amounts as a debt through the ADGM Courts.
In certain circumstances, ADGM entities may request a waiver of late filing penalties. The Office of Data Protection considers waiver requests only under specific conditions, such as system errors, failure of notification, or liquidation/deregistration initiated during the grace period. To learn more about eligibility criteria, required documentation, and the application process, please refer to our Waiver Guidance document.
