Reem Island, One Bite at a Time

A guide to eating your way across Reem Island.

The ADGM District Reem Island, One Bite at a Time
Reem Island has always had the skyline, but its dining scene has caught up. With marina-side cafés, new openings and restaurants choosing Reem for their Abu Dhabi debut, the island has quietly become one of the capital’s best dining neighbourhoods. Here’s where to go, depending on what you’re in the mood for.

    Cafés & Breakfast

James Café, Shams Boutik: Reem's most consistent breakfast spot, known for its shakshouka, a French-leaning menu, buttery croissants and a specialty coffee list deep enough for genuine caffeine addicts. Popular enough that a second branch has since opened in Al Qana.

Kettle Corner, Shams Boutik: A cheerful neighbourhood café with regulars who treat it like a second living room. Menu blends Indian and Western breakfast, from vada pav to a full English, alongside a well-priced karak.

Ritual, Reem Central Park: A mangrove-facing café loved for its outdoor seating, baked goods, and easy pace — dog-friendly outside, and a good sunset spot with a mocktail in hand.

    Everyday & Casual Favourites

Sushi Central: Small, quiet and no-fuss, with a tight menu built around fresh sashimi and traditional preparation rather than spectacle.

Vietnamese Pho, Al Reem Bay Tower B: One of the island's earliest and most-loved spots, known for generously sized, comforting bowls of pho at genuinely affordable prices, plus fresh summer rolls and stir-fries worth ordering alongside.

Thai Noodle, By The Sea Tower: A waterfront Thai spot with all the essentials done well: papaya salad, spring rolls, tom yum and a well-priced pad Thai, ideal after a walk along the beach.

    Reem Mall's Big Spread

With close to 80 restaurants under one roof, Reem Mall alone could anchor a whole weekend of eating. Standouts include Eataly, for fresh pasta, wood-fired pizza and an in-house Italian grocer; PAUL, for Parisian pastries and a more refined bite; The Butcher Shop & Grill, for serious cuts of steak; Wagamama, for ramen and donburi in a casual, always-buzzing space; New Shanghai, for dim sum and Shanghai-style noodles; and LevanTurk, for Turkish and Lebanese sharing plates, including a notably good-value weekday breakfast buffet.

For something sweeter, EL&N's Reem Mall branch brings its signature cakes and pastries in a chic, deli-style setting, while Mooah Parfait Barthe, the first dedicated parfait bar, lets you build a custom parfait, sweet or savoury, to take into a movie next door. McGettigan's has also just landed with a 45,000 square foot sports, dining and entertainment hub; expect big screens, a proper fan zone, and more concepts to be announced in the months ahead.

    New & Worth Trying

Ibn AlBahr, The Makers District: Dubai favourite's first Abu Dhabi outpost, bringing its relaxed Lebanese seafood concept to Reem Island, a strong sign of the kind of dining brands now choosing the island as their entry point into the capital.

Art of Dum, Reem Mall: A striking new Indian restaurant led by chef Guarav, formerly of Martabaan by Hemant Oberoi at Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental. The nizam-e-pakwan and dal makhani have both quickly become the dishes people come back for.

    Also on the Island

A few more spots worth knowing about if you're exploring further: 49ers (Leaf Tower) for a lively, American-style spot with a popular weekly quiz night; Adam's Beer Kitchen (ARC Tower) for casual pub-style dining with an expanded outdoor garden; and Pizza Express (ARC Tower) for family-friendly pizza and pasta, with a dedicated kids' menu and pizza-making parties for birthdays.

Between the mall, the marina-side cafés, and the local spots that got here first, Reem Island's food scene now holds its own against anywhere else in the city, proof of just how far the neighbourhood has come.
