Abu Dhabi's Best Culture Camps This Summer

Learning through culture, art and adventure

The ADGM District Abu Dhabi's Best Culture Camps This Summer
One camp moves children between three of the country's biggest museums in a single week, with a bonus stop at teamLab Phenomena. Another sends them into Qasr Al Hosn to design their own Majlis. A third has them learning calligraphy and ceramics across three different art studios.

    The Story of Us

The Story of Us: Young explorers discover the story of our world.

The most ambitious of the four. Children move between the Natural History Museum, Louvre Abu Dhabi and Zayed National Museum across a single week, each museum offering a different lens on what it means to be human: natural history and the forces that shaped the planet at the Natural History Museum, creativity and cultural exchange at the Louvre, and the UAE's own history and values at Zayed National Museum. The themes rotate daily: Landscapes and Skies, Movement and Travel, Flora and Fauna, Shapes and Colours. As a bonus, campers get an exclusive visit to teamLab Phenomena, folded into the Monday and Wednesday museum days.

The structure is more involved than it sounds: Monday, Wednesday and Friday are TeamLab and Natural History Museum days, with a 9am drop-off, museum tour and activity, lunch, then an afternoon session, finishing at 3pm. Tuesday and Thursday are spent at Louvre Abu Dhabi.

    9:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. | Five weeks available, 6 July to 7 August | Saadiyat Cultural District

    Abu Dhabi Legacy Camp

Abu Dhabi Legacy Camp: Creative activities inspired by Emirati culture.

Built around three of the capital's most historic sites: Qasr Al Hosn, the House of Artisans and Al Maqta'a Museum. At Qasr Al Hosn, children investigate leadership through Sheikh Shakhbout's legacy, design their own Majlis, build a collaborative fort mural and play traditional Emirati games. At the House of Artisans, they work alongside real artisans to learn natural dyeing, weave a tote bag inspired by traditional crafts and hear oral histories from skilled hands. At Al Maqta'a Museum, the focus shifts to baking-inspired heritage activities and turning natural materials into practical, home-ready creations.

    10 a.m. – 2 p.m. | Seven weeks available, 6 July to 20 August | Qasr Al Hosn, House of Artisans, Al Maqta'a Museum

    Al Ain Legacy Camp

Al Ain Legacy Camp: Discovering the stories of Al Ain.

The Al Ain equivalent, spread across Qasr Al Muwaiji, Bait Mohammed bin Khalifa and Al Ain Museum. Children explore Emirati values and everyday traditions at Qasr Al Muwaiji, get hands-on with traditional Emirati craft and storytelling at Bait Mohammed bin Khalifa, and dig into the region's archaeology, aflaj irrigation systems and oasis life at Al Ain Museum, culminating in a Young Curators Exhibition where children present their own models, recordings and reports to the public.

9 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. | Five weeks available, 20 July to 20 August | Qasr Al Muwaiji, Bait Mohammed bin Khalifa, Al Ain Museum

    Once Upon an Art Camp

Once Upon an Art Camp: Where young imaginations take shape.

The most straightforwardly creative of the four, rotating between Manarat Al Saadiyat's Art Studio, the Cultural Foundation's Children's Art Centre and Bait Al Khatt. At Bait Al Khatt, children learn how shapes and lines combine into Islamic-art-inspired patterns, eventually turning their own designs into three-dimensional, wearable or everyday objects. At the Children's Art Centre, weekly themes move from Artistic Fusion (blending two different artists' styles into one piece) to Brush Through the Ages (classical art techniques) to Cartoon Characters and World of the Sea. At the Art Studio, each week runs its own four-day rotation of painting, mixed media, printmaking and sculpture, with themes ranging from Van Gogh Sunflowers to Frida Kahlo Day to Kusama Dots.

10 a.m. – 2 p.m. | Seven weeks available, 6 July to 20 August | Manarat Al Saadiyat, Cultural Foundation, Bait Al Khatt

    A Few Things Worth Knowing

Ages run 5 to 14 across all four camps, though The Story of Us recommends checking specific age guidance given its more conceptual themes. None of the camps overlap entirely in dates, so it is genuinely possible to book more than one across the summer without a scheduling clash. For The Story of Us specifically, pack a lunch, a reusable water bottle and closed-toe shoes and leave metal cutlery at home, since it is not permitted inside the museum.
