ADGM and the Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority Sign Memorandum of Understanding

    ADGM RA 28/12/2015

Abu Dhabi Global Market (“ADGM”), the international financial centre in Abu Dhabi, and the Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (“ADFCA”) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (“MOU”) that enables both institutions to cooperate and share information on a range of matters relating to food safety. The MOU was signed between Dhaher Bin Dhaher Almheiri, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the ADGM Registration Authority, and Mouza Suhail Mohammed Al Muhairi, Control Sector Executive Director of ADFCA.

Dhaher Bin Dhaher Almheiri, CEO of the ADGM Registration Authority, said, “This collaboration serves to enhance the infrastructure under ADGM jurisdiction and enables companies and professionals to enjoy greater ease of doing business on Al Maryah Island. Partnerships with like-minded and onshore authorities, such as ADFCA, are part of our ongoing commitment to create a one-stop-shop platform on the financial free zone for companies and professionals to efficiently establish, operate and grow their businesses. As an international financial centre, ADGM will play its part to support local and international businesses and together, contribute towards the success and growth of the Abu Dhabi economy.”

Mouza Suhail Al Muhairi, Control Sector Executive Director of ADFCA, said, “This MOU establishes an important framework for ADGM and ADFCA to work together as we strive to continually improve food quality standards. The signing of this memorandum is in line with our commitment to guaranteeing total food safety and security for the people of Abu Dhabi.”

The MOU establishes a framework for ADGM and ADFCA to work together on areas including instituting health standards and requirements for food establishments affiliated to hotels and independent food facilities, as well as providing guidelines for issuance of required licenses and permits. Both entities will jointly organise training workshops for personnel in food establishments at ADGM, and ensure the application of the special requirements and standards stipulated by ADFCA, and the standards are mutually agreed upon.
