Legislation and Procedures
Abu Dhabi Global Market was established pursuant to Federal Legislation and Abu Dhabi Legislation including Abu Dhabi Law No. 4 of 2013, as a financial free zone, in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, with its own civil and commercial laws. ADGM provides market participants with a world-class legal system and regulatory regime.
The ADGM Courts Regulations and supporting Rules were enacted by ADGM's Board of Directors and the Chief Justice respectively on 17 December 2015.

Rules
Pursuant to section 187 of the ADGM Courts, Civil Evidence, Judgments, Enforcement and Judicial Appointments Regulations 2015, the Chief Justice has made court procedure rules for ADGM Courts. They are cited as ADGM Court Procedure Rules 2016 and came into force on 30 May 2016. These Rules were last amended on 1 September 2020.
Amendments
Pursuant to a delegation of power from the Board of Directors of Abu Dhabi Global Market to the Chief Justice of Abu Dhabi Global Market Courts under section 228 of the ADGM Courts, Civil Evidence, Judgments, Enforcement and Judicial Appointments Regulations 2015, the Chief Justice has made the ADGM Courts Conduct Rules 2016. These Rules came into force on 30 May 2016.
ADGM Courts have published a guidance paper to explain the amendments made to ADGM’s Founding Law, Abu Dhabi Law No. (4) of 2013 Concerning Abu Dhabi Global Market, which came into effect on 14 May 2020.
Pursuant to section 191 of the ADGM Courts, Civil Evidence, Judgments, Enforcement and Judicial Appointments Regulations 2015, the Chief Justice has made the following Practice Directions for ADGM Courts. The Practice Directions came into force on 30 May 2016 and were last amended on 1 September 2021.
