I have worked on a number of long-term projects e.g Edinburgh tram project over two years and have co-mediated a number of complex international dispute. Over a substantial period of time – Maxwell Pension dispute. Some of my international experience is specifically referenced in the publication International Mediation – breaking business deadlock (Bloomsbury, third edition) which I coauthored with Dr Karl Mackie CBE.

Training and Professional Development

CEDR Founder. In 2016 became CEDR’s Principal Mediator. Over 20 years of training in mediation and advanced negotiation to professionals and business clients alike in Europe, Asia and North America. I attended the Henley Business School in 2008 and qualified as an Executive Coach. Extensive public platform speaking and delivery of lectures and teaching, including Harvard Law School and Harvard Negotiation Project, OECD, Fordham Law School and the World Bank, guest appearance on Radio 4 – BBC. Admitted as a Solicitor in 1981 and awarded Queen’s Counsel Honoris Causa QC in 2013. Independent Chairing, facilitated dialogue, Senior executive coaching in conflict scenarios. Visiting Professor of Practise at Newcastle University Law School. Author of many articles on ADR e.g. International financial law review, 1989 ‘Are we ready for ADR in Europe?’ Contributor to Butterworth’s’ Mediators on Mediation (Tottel, 2005). Contributed to ‘Stories Mediators Tell’ World Edition (2017), Lela Love & Glen Parker.
